The removal of petrol subsidies by the Federal Government of Nigeria in May 2024 triggered a surge in inflation from 20% to 34%, leading to a sharp rise in food prices. As a result, many struggling families found it increasingly difficult to feed their children. In response, the STACC Board authorized the purchase and distribution of essential food items to children in clinic communities, helping to supplement their families' provisions and alleviate the impact of hunger on their health. This initiative benefited 442 children across ten communities, with each child receiving approximately 1.7 kg of rice, 1.5 kg of beans, and 2 to 3 packs of Indomie noodles. The video below captures mothers in Edunabon expressing their gratitude to STACC-ILEIFE for this important food aid.
