Masambuka Clinic
STACC is raising funds to complete the clinic, staff house, toilet and washing facilities, and clinical waste incinerator at Masambuka village in Malawi. The country is consistently one of the 10 poorest in the world and this remote community is particularly poorly served for health services. The village is 10km along a single dirt road to the nearest health facility and children with fever and women in labour have died whilst trying to walk to get treatment. The new staff house and clinic will allow a government funded health worker to be based in the village to serve the local community and deal with preventable diseases such as cholera and malaria. A water borehole has been constructed and funds have been raised to install solar power for the house and clinic which will then also have cold storage facilities required to act as a vaccination centre for the wider area.
