Health care for children on Pemba Island, Zanzibar, has been supported by STACC and the Ivo de Carneri Foundation (Milan) since 2003. The service is registered with the Zanzibar Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

There is a base clinic at Gombani and an outreach service on two days a week using a 4WD vehicle.

To date, the clinics have provided over 114,000 treatments for children. Also, insecticide treated bednets have been distributed.

According to the World Health Organization this is the only free health care available on Pemba Island with its population of about 350,000.
